The Video Every First Year Truck Driver Needs To See - Trucker Wayne
Every single year, one of my New Year's Resolutions is to remind truck driving school students not to quit. Oh yeah - Don't QUIT! Do not give up.
Watch this video I recorded at the PAM Transport yard in Michigan to find out why this is SO IMPORTANT. And please, share this with others! So many new drivers need this reminder.

Trucking School Lessons Learned
Listen, CDL training can be tough. There were times when it was for me and there are times when it probably will be for you. But I made it through. I DID IT!
I remember back to my time at C1 Truck Driver Training in Springfield, Missouri. I did well during truck driving school, went to take my CDL test and I passed the skills test but failed the driving test. It wasn't good. It wasn't good at all.
So, why did I fail? The biggest reason was that my head wasn't in the game. I was worried about too many other things. I wasn't focused on "just driving."
But you know what, I am glad I failed it because I learned the most important lesson in trucking. When you drive you need to let go of everything else and just focus on driving - you and the road. The instructors there at C1 Springfield did a great job of reminding me of that. They said, "Wayne, just let it all go and drive like we know you can." That proved to be just what I needed.
I went back and I PASSED with flying colors the second time. And then I drove. I made it through the first year. I kept on driving.

Your 1st Year in Trucking
Yes, making it through that first year is SO SO important. It's not easy, but it's worth it. Once you get through that first year of trucking, so many doors open up. I am living proof of that.
I've been able to drive flatbed, dry van, and now I am on a Dedicated route with PAM Transport that I love heading through beautiful North Carolina. Well, most of the time it's beautiful LOL we just had a bit of an ice storm. But I played it safe and made it through.
There's a big learning curve, especially during that first year. You need to come to the realization that you're always going to be learning and you're always going to be improving. But whatever you do, don't quit. Sure, there were times when I thought about it. Instead, I kept going, and man, I'm so glad I did!
