Considering CDL training? Starting a new trucking career is a big step. And big steps can be both exciting and scary. One thing that always helps is hearing from students who have recently been through our truck driver training program. That's why we make it a point to get feedback from our students regularly. It allows us to help calm nerves, praise staff members for a job well done, and identify areas we can improve.

Take a look at 6 recent reviews that came in from CDL training students who attended the Driver Solutions training program...

Recent CDL Training Student Reviews

"Great service quick an reliable training!! Pleasure working with you as well in the future I will and have referred my friends and family about Driver Solutions!!" - Christopher D.

"I am very pleased with your CDL program and to be specific, kudos to Joanne she did very good during my process and a very big thank you to the Driver solutions family." - Darlington P.

"The school is well planned out and easy to learn. The staff is helpful and I will recommend anyone that wants to be a professional driver to apply. Thanks." - Kevin B.

"The school exceeded my expectations. All of the instructors exceeded my expectations. Perry Emmett is a very effective trainer. Jeremy was also very effective. Gerald as well. Everybody I dealt with in the classroom and on the range was professional and effective with the exception of Lori. I did write a statement regarding an incident that took place with Lori and gave it to Tommy. All in all, I don't think I've ever been around a more friendly and professional group of people. That includes Melvin Tommy Keith Angie Melinda Ms Jackie Tim and a few others whose names have escaped me. Thank you all for giving me what I need so that I can have the kind of future that I need." - David D.

"Yes, everything was great. The instructors Ray, Kelly, Eric and Tim who I had the privilege of being trained by them taught me all of what I needed to know to be successful. Randy is also a great instructor in the classroom. He really put you in position to pass your knowledge test for permits. It was great. Emily too was very cordial and professional. I also would like to commend the office of FTA for being patient with me and the our classroom. This experience will stick with me for life!" - Keymonte A.

"The whole staff in the front office is absolutely wonderful. Mrs julie make sure you do what's needed to be done. If it wasn’t for Jeff I would not have graduated he was always busy but if you needed help he would stop what he was doing to make sure I was taken care of, something he didn't have to do. Mr Batts has got to be the most knowledgeable person I have ever met. That guys is old but remembers everything, I could sit and listen to him talk all day. Ray was a tough cookie but for all the right reasons he is actually saving lives out there. He is a very passionate person and loves what he does. David was my personal favorite because his method of teaching takes away all of your anxiety. Kelly was great as well his lid back approach helped a lot. Wes was the coolest dude there not a care in the world. I didn't think he could get upset as many mistakes I made backing. Not one time did he raise his voice or even get upset. I could go on for days about FTA. I think I went to school with no friends at all but left with at least 12 brothers that was the greatest feeling out of the whole ordeal." - Raymond B.

PAM Transport reviews from drivers who have recently hit their 1-year anniversary with the company can be extremely helpful for those who are thinking about getting into the truck driving the industry. 1st year PAM reviews like the one shown below tell the story of everything that is possible as a new driver in the trucking industry!

Trucking During COVID-19

In a year impacted by the COVID-19 virus, filled with so many challenges, truck drivers were given an opportunity to thrive and expand their careers. Not only is truck driving considered essential every day, but during the COVID crisis, truckers were needed more than ever. Let's take Johnny for example. In 2020, a year taken over by the pandemic, among other things, when many individuals and businesses were struggling and on the brink of bankruptcy, he was fortunate enough to not only start a NEW career but to be able to advance quickly.

When a new trucker decides to take the leap and go with PAM Transport and Driver Solutions, we not only help them learn and then earn their CDL license, we offer a roadmap to success during the 1st year and beyond. While there are many drivers who don't put in the work to take advantage of the millions of opportunities out there, people like Johnny (shown below) provide motivation to those who are determined to succeed. Take a look at what Johnny had to say about his 1st year at PAM...

1st Year Review with PAM Transport

"I finished my first year with PAM Transport and am still working with them. I made the right decision to be apart of PAM Transports Company, since I began working with them till now, I have gotten so much experience with great care and support. I always appreciate their non stop assistance, care and understanding. I just feel all PAM members are like a Family to me.

They have good miles, trucks in great condition, and offer different benefits based on our performance. I was more than lucky to have such an amazing driver Manager, which I can easily communication with. I got a new Truck as well, a 2020 in great condition. I start my job driving solo soon but right now I am working as a Mentor. I'm teaching students while at the same time driving my part. Being a Mentor is a great chance for better miles and benefits. As a Mentor, you must have patience, be responsible, be honest and be professional in order to deliver the proper experience to co drivers/Trainees.

I am super happy with my stay at PAM, I had great success in my first year. I highly recommend anyone to join this great Company. Once more, thank you Driver Solutions for putting me with PAM Transport and wish you all a great success."

"My first year with PAMT was everything I had hoped. I was able to travel to 37 states and over 154,000 miles driving and riding. I experienced both team and solo and then began as a Mentor in my 9th month. In 2020 I was able to be a mentor to 5 trainees and each one was enjoyable to teach. I enjoy solo time when I do not have a trainee, however, I also really enjoy being a support to trainees and teaching them how to be as safe and successful as possible once they upgrade.

Each PAMT employee I interact with from my Driver Manager to Logs, to Road Rescue and Maintenance is predominantly helpful and friendly.

I look forward to my second year driving for PAMT!"

And to Arthur for giving me the opportunity to come to the school to learn. Brandon and Diane are amazing too for having to deal with all the paperwork for each new student, not a job I would like to have. And for Danny, for allowing me to be his guinea pig for a driving test and for giving great pointers on driving habits. Overall my experience was a once in a life time.
"I just graduated from Springfield Missouri last Friday. I enjoyed the experience. Instructors were great. You could joke with them. You could ask any questions you have. They all said they are there to help your success. I was doubtful at first. But after a couple days at school. I changed my mind. There was no question about it. They are truly training you to be your best. I'm truly going to miss getting to see and talk to them everyday." - David C.

In 2019, PAM Transport's Maintenance Manager, Montie Wolfinbarger, was on a mission to improve training for its technicians. He wanted more efficiency, creating quicker maintenance turnaround, less downtime, and more uptime. The result, of course, would be better-maintained equipment leading to more miles and greater pay for company drivers.

Wolfinbarger was seeking a training module that would help its staff learn faster and better through a more convenient source. Montie also wanted to find a better way to "train technicians and track their progress to keep its shop on par with dealerships for maintenance and warranty work" (FleetOwner). After having discussions with different companies, they deciding to go through Luma, they designed a system called the Luma eNugget LMS! This system includes "a collection of more than 500 customizable learning modules, called Luma eNuggets, that cover relevant driver safety, compliance, and orientation topics with content in mixed mediums" (FleetOwner).

Within the first months to a year, "PAM Transport has seen training efficiencies and learning outcomes improve for drivers and technicians" (FeetOwner). These include:

Increases in warranty recovery

Reductions in standard repair times

Elimination of paper forms

Career advancement

Not only has this helped many departments at PAM Transport learn and exceed in their roles, but it has also helped truck drivers significantly. With this technology, it has allowed better maintenance services with faster turnaround times - that way truckers aren't waiting for long periods of time when their truck breaks down or needs servicing! This has allowed PAM Transport to altogether be a more efficient company when it comes to many aspects of this industry.

On Tuesday, PAM Transport celebrated its 40th anniversary! This is a HUGE milestone for a transportation company, and PAM is continuing full steam ahead.

In a blog written on Tuesday, PAM outlined all the obstacles they've faced over the past 40 years. As stated in the 40th-anniversary blog post:

"PAM’s early days began in 1980 with only five used Freightliner tractors and 15 trailers, and a goal to deliver customer products safely and on time. Just four years later, our fleet grew to 100 tractors and 160 trailers. In 1986, we became a publicly-traded company and now boast over 2,000 tractors, 6,000 trailers, and over 2,400 drivers."

The blog gave a special shoutout to 3 specific employees who have been there close to the beginning; Cherrie Patty, and Judy! These 3 special ladies all started at different times, but have not gone off the path of working for PAM. That shows a lot about a company and how they treat their employees! Each of them talked about the different experiences and changes that have come and gone throughout the years, but what has stayed the same throughout these 40 years is "PAM's commitment to a positive and family-like atmosphere for both our in-office staff and drivers" (PAM Transport Blog Post 11/1/2020).

PAM Transport continues to thrive as one of the largest transportation companies! Congratulations to all employees at PAM Transport for an amazing 40 years! At Driver Solutions, we're proud to have been partners with PAM for 30+ of these years!

If you ask me, this year has been TOUGH for a lot of people. But no matter how many obstacles you've to overcome so far in 2020, there is always something to be thankful for. And we at Driver Solutions are thankful for truckers, who continued to work throughout this pandemic to keep the stores stocked with supplies we needed and for the health and safety of our coworkers, families, and friends!

We decided to ask our RoadWarriors what they are thankful for and here are some of our favorite replies;

"Having a job and my family most of all my mom we don't how much longer but glad she's here." - Sidney A.

"The love & support of my family. Have changed career paths & they are very supportive." - Jeff F.

"To be reunited with my dad and his side of the family after 35 years." - Melissa F.

"That my wife after six hard months will be finally fully healed in December!!!! Thankfully ive been able to run hard and keep my family taken care of! My health! My families health! Many things to be extremely grateful for this year!!" - Chad D.

"My Family, that God has blessed me to live to be 50 years old and see my 6th grandchild be born and that I have been able to keep on rolling when so many are out of work." - Yvette S.

"The brotherly peace that trucking seems to bring." - Cliff C.

"I had a heart attack in July, I am thankful that I am still here, and thankful that I have a 2nd chance, hopefully that puts me back on the road here soon. Just have to get these last couple of obstacles cleared." - Jonathan A.

In a year that has been made up of a lot of bad news, there is so much hope and good that has happened as well. We hope that your Thanksgiving is filled with joy and happiness and if you aren't able to be home to see your family, be thankful that they are safe and healthy!

And when you're eating your Thanksgiving meals, don't forget to #ThankATrucker for sacrificing to put that food on your table!

November 11th is a very important day each and every year. It's the time we come together to recognize those brave men and women who have served our great Nation. We at Driver Solutions would like to thank all the past, present, and future military members for your hard work, dedication, and sacrifice in serving this great country. We would not have the freedoms or civil liberties that we do today if it weren't for you all.

For the many veterans who have transitioned from the military family into the trucking family, we want to especially thank you for continuing to be heroes each and every day. Truck driving can be a great career for those to transition into after serving our country.

Over our 30+ years in business, Driver Solutions has seen Veterans thrive in the trucking industry for these reasons:

Veterans are used to being away from home, which makes the trucking lifestyle easier.

Veterans are independent and can manage their own schedules.

Veterans are always prepared and are very goal-oriented.

Driver Solutions is here for you every step of the way when you're transitioning into your new career. We are so thankful for your continuous sacrifice, whether that's in the military or the trucking industry!

Thank you very much for all you do, and with the holidays coming up, may you have a blessed and safe holiday season!
