Truck Driver Training with PAM Transport - Week by Week
As you begin your journey to becoming a truck driver with PAM Transport, you may be wondering what CDL training is really like...
Over more than 20 years, Driver Solutions and PAM have partnered with the top truck driving schools in the country to develop a training process that is proven to prepare you for a successful, long-lasting career on the road.
The process lasts around 3-4 weeks, and by the end of it, you'll be ready to start your career with PAM Transport.
Let's break it all down, week by week...
Week 1 - In the Classroom
In the first week of training, you’ll be in the classroom. You’ll fill out paperwork, and make sure you have everything necessary to get your Class A CDL ready to go. You’ll learn about what’s going to be expected of you over the next few weeks as well as what the rest of the first week will entail.
In that first week, you can expect to start learning the very basics of truck driving such as pre-trip inspection, DOT regulations, and how to fill out your hours of service logbook.
Week 2 - On the Range
Once your first week of training is over, you’ll get the chance to get out on the practice range and get behind the wheel. You’ll put the techniques you learned to practice, and even get to hit the streets to gain some real on the road experience.
You might be a bit nervous the first time you climb behind the wheel of a big rig; and that's completely normal! Don't worry though, our CDL instructors will be right there with you for every step of the way.

Week 3 - Hone Your Skills
The third week of our training process is dedicated for you to hone the skills you haven’t quite mastered yet. You’ll get the chance to ask your trainers questions and practice anything you might need to spend some extra time on. This week is where it all starts coming together, and you’ll finally be ready for your skills test.
Week 3/4 - Skills Testing
This is it. This is the week where you get to put everything you’ve learned to the test. Your skills test will include three parts: pre-trip inspection, range skills, and street driving.
While it may seem a bit nerve-wracking at first, especially in front of a tester, if you’ve trusted in the Driver Solutions process you can trust that you're well prepared to succeed. Once you do, your Class A CDL, and life and career with PAM Transport as a truck driver, awaits you!
