Step 2 To Pass Your CDL Exam

At the beginning of your journey to earning your CDL license, you must pass a written test. Has it been a while since you took a test? Taking tests can be nerve-racking, and for some, it may be years since the last time they studied for one. If that is your case, you will learn that a lot more goes into it than showing up at the DMV or license branch and passing it with flying colors... on the first try. Many people struggle to do just that.

At Driver Solutions, we pride ourselves on providing our students with CDL practice tests. But even with the materials, there is more to successfully passing your test on your first try. Knowing the right study habits and what works for you can go a long way with helping you pass. One of the best ways to get into the right state of mind is hearing from an experienced truck driver who has been in the shoes you are in before! And after hearing what they have to say... You will learn that STUDYING is one of the main key to successfully becoming a truck driver.

This is the second part of a 3 part series on Preparing for and Passing the CDL Tests. To keep up the momentum, we have another video from Big Matt from Bonafide Trucking. In this second video, Matt is going to give some tips that helped him KNOW all of the answers to the CDL exam. Let’s get started…

Matt from Bonafide Trucking gives great advice on how to study for your CDL test - this is an important step to pass on the first try.

After getting prepared to learn for your CDL exam, the second step is to study. As Matt explains in the video, this step can be discouraging for some because of getting the big book from the BMV to study can be intimidating. Especially with some not being to school in 10+ years. Just like any test, there is a lot more information in the textbook than there is on the actual test... This is important to know that way you don't spend hours upon hours studying the whole book, when about 1/3 of it may be on the exam. The smartest thing to do is to get a list of the questions, then do your research and find the correct answers to them. Knowing what ways will help you learn the information the easiest is most important.

Matt suggests studying by matching the definition with the words... Others like to make note cards and quiz themselves. There are so many different ways to study and don't be afraid to get creative with it, that might just turn out to be the easiest way for you to comprehend the information. The MOST important thing to do is to study only the information needed to pass the test. As Matt says, you can reach out to him for his packet, or, when you apply through Driver Solutions your driver account will provide you with information and practice tests to help you prepare.
