Q: How long have you been trucking?
A: I've been driving for the better part of three years.
Q: What made you want to get into truck driving?
A: There are many reasons that I wanted to drive. At the start, it was an alternative to my former lifestyle. As a result of gang-related charges I was incarcerated, while there I asked Jesus, "What's next?, How can I make some good money, become a role model to kids with no hope and stay out of jail?" "TRUCKING," he said, which made no sense since I'm morbidly afraid of big rigs(still to this day). But here I stand!
Q: What is your favorite thing about truck driving?
A: My favorite thing about trucking is the alone time with myself and God. I'm as flawed, probably more so, as everyone else. For that reason, the detox I get from being on the road is good for all parts of me, mentally, spiritually, and most times physically (truck stop food isn't the best).
Q: What advice would you give to someone considering trucking but reluctant to take the leap?
A: I would encourage anyone who has a desire to drive to get into trucking. The truck is too big?? You're scared? Heck, I'm scared too, EVERY SINGLE DAY, but my mind has been made! My fear will not run me it will fuel me! I get a kick out of overcoming my fear day after day and because of trucking I know that there is nothing impossible as long I as believe!!! #itsdeeperthantrucking
Q: How are you doing with reaching your goals? What’s next for you?
A: As for reaching my goals I'd have to say I'm pretty on course. I didn't come into the industry with the intent to stay long. I am an activist at heart but it takes money to effect change so my trucking career is basically fundraising lol. Keyword in activist is active, so in line with being active, I've got a few business ventures lined up. Currently, we're working on distributing our clothing line through Amazon. Nothing against protesting but in addition to those have to be actionable items so we are creating Goodfaithlogistic.com, a brokerage that is trucker owned and meets the demands of truckers nationwide as well as providing stellar customer service.
Q: Is there anywhere you want to travel that you haven’t made it to yet?
A: I was scheduled to go to the Dominican Republic in July. I never traveled outside of the country so I really just want to do some globetrotting in general.
Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: In my free time I love learning, teaching, spending time with family and friends, exercising, playing pranks, sleeping, and eating.
Q: What song is your go-to song on a long stressful day behind the wheel?
A: After a long day at the wheel I like to zone out to "I must be close" by Marvin Sapp or "Real Big" by Nipsey Hussle.
