Let's learn more about Glenn...
Q: What were you doing before trucking & why did you want to get into it in the first place?
A: I was actually an IT Analyst working with doctors, etc. I had decided to try out trucking because I wanted something that was going to be more of an independent position that involved being more active.
Q: From the beginning, you were very goal-oriented and successful during your first year. How did you go about setting and achieving those goals?
A: Staying focused! It’s a job I've always wanted to do, so I figured once I jumped in it, I was to go all out or nothing. I would say I have succeeded by putting my best effort into everything I do.
Q: What made you decide it was time to do the owner-operator career?
A: The main reasons were that I was able to be more reliant on myself, able to work when I wanted to (which is still all the time), and more responsibility with the truck. In turn, this decision has helped me learn more about the trucking industry as a whole. Oh and more money, of course!
Q: You seem to have a lot of fun and truly love doing what you do. Would you say this helps you make it through the tough days?
A: It makes the day go by faster. If I want to get to the weekend, I try to start out on Monday in a good mood and the next thing I know it’s the weekend!
Q: What songs have you been known to sing the most while trucking?
A: I don't really have any go-to songs that I listen to... I mainly listen to pretty much everything and anything that comes on the radio. As long as the radio is playing, I'm good to go!
Q: How about your free time…what do you like to do?
A: I like to take my nieces and nephews out, and go out with friends to the bars and play some pool!
Q: What’s next for you – in life, your career, etc?
A: Probably trying to start my own trucking company, but I am taking my time with it but it’s definitely next on the goals list.
Q: What advice would you give to someone on the fence about trucking?
A: Do the research, look into however you decide to start truck driving. Do research on the school, the program, the company. Make sure that it is somewhere that you feel comfortable. Don’t just jump into a place then after weeks or a month you’re wanting to jump out of it. That one year of experience is important.
