Carey Hayward from Driver Solutions Facebook page asks: Hello Wayne, as for myself I'm about to start CDL training with C1 on March 4th and I have certain goals in mind, so my question to you is, do you have any personal goals that you're looking forward to achieving as a truck driver? Thanks.
Hi Carey and thank you for your question!
Yes, I have a very specific goal in mind. I want to get my year in with USA Truck! The first year is easily the toughest and I believe if I can get my year in, great things (including more money $$) will come. My loan to Driver Solutions will be paid off, more money per mile will be coming my way, and that first year learning curve will be over. As a truck driver, you learn something new every day. But in the first year, the learning curve comes at you like a fastball.
The turnover rate among first year drivers is pretty high, so I will be proud when I can say I got my first year in. Another goal I have is to drive as many miles as possible the first year. Since December 26th, I have only taken 2 days off (home time) and I have been wracking up some pretty good and safe miles since then. I believe I have learned so much in this time that every day is getting better and better and obtaining my first year is so close I can smell it.
Good luck on March 4th. My time at truck driving school changed my life for the better and I hope you have a great time there.
