USA Truck drivers who have logged 1 million or more safe miles during their career are eligible for the President's Million Mile Club. This is an honor within the company as current membership totals only 105 individuals in 4 different levels -- 82 bronze (1 million safe miles), 21 silver (2 million miles), 1 gold (3 million miles) and 1 platinum (4 million miles).
USA Truck CEO John Simone acknowledged the new members into the club with a luncheon at the Fort Smith Convention Center on May 4th. He cited a few examples to emphasize the safety accomplishment -- for example, 1 million miles is about equivalent to 333 trips across the United States.
As you can see, a million miles is a LOT of trips! You don't log that many miles around the country without receiving excellent CDL training first. A proper truck driving school will teach you not only how to drive a truck, but how to do so safely. Driver Solutions' CDL training schools emphasize the importance of safety from the moment you arrive at school by emphasizing things like the pre-trip inspection.
A million accident-free miles is no easy feat, because even if you're the safest driver in the world, there are always 4-wheelers driving like maniacs. Ask any truck driver and I'm sure they'll have their stories about passenger vehicles being unaware of how to share the road with trucks. A majority of accidents between a car and a truck are caused by the car, so even if you're not at fault in the accident, your "safe miles" can be tarnished in an instant. The fact that these drivers have reached million-mile marks means they truly are defensive and safe drivers. They are experts at watching the road, understanding what people will do, and reacting accordingly.
The new club members include: Edward Mundy, Paul Thacker, Ivan Carpenter, Johnny Triplette, Dwayne Lytle, Glen Hays, Robert Fowler, James Rader, Mark Booze, Jason Teafatiller, Jared Singletary and Kendrick Washington.
We'd like to extend a special shoutout to new-inductee Larry Moore! Larry is a Driver Solutions alum who came through our program back in 2002. Congrats to all the new inductees!
