USA Truck Continues To Stay Ahead Of Technology Curve

USA Truck has announced that it is going to be using SkyBitz┬« for its trailer tracking technology.  This new trailer tracking technology will be installed over time throughout the first quarter in 2011 on more than 6,000 trailers.  SkyBitz┬« will allow managers to view trailer assets in real-time and run reports on each trailer within their fleet.  The goal of this new technology is to provide "more efficient asset utilization across its fleet, improve customer satisfaction through better asset allocation and load visibility and enhance load security."

USA Truck's President and CEO, Cliff Beckham, said, "With SkyBitz's trailer tracking technology, we expect better visibility of our fleet and the status of our trailers. We were looking for more real-time data to help us improve customer service and equipment utilization while reducing unnecessary headaches for our drivers. With more precise and real-time metrics on trailers, we should be able to operate with a more efficient trailer-to-tractor ratio than we would otherwise. Our decision to purchase this trailer tracking technology is another example of how we are implementing our VEVA long-term strategic plan to control costs and boost return on invested capital."

Announcements like this continue to show the advancements that usa-truck-logotrucking companies are making in implementing new technology in the industry.  In talking with a number of instructors at truck driver training school, one of the biggest changes in the industry over the last 20 years has been the advancement of technology.  While most of the basic skills have remained the same, the technology and rules of the industry have changed quite a bit.  Part of the importance in attending a top trucking school is to stay up to date on these changes before entering the industry as a driver.

We will continue to keep our readers posted on how this change impacts USA Truck customers and employees.
