Truck Driver Training & Brake Safety Week

The most important thing that you will learn in CDL truck driver training is that safety out on the open road is absolutely critical to being a successful truck driver.  Whether it's the pre-trip inspection or just being aware of the elements and others around you, a commercial truck driver must be alert at all times.  One of the items you will learn at truck driver training is air brake safety.

Speaking of brake safety, Brake Safety Week still start on Sept. 12th.  During the week, Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) certified inspectors, brake suppliers and industry partners will conduct enforcement and education activities with drivers and mechanics at truckstops, weigh stations and other locations.  It's very important for regular brake inspections to take place as CVSA reports it is a major cause for trucks being out of service.   Servicing these brakes is critical as stopping distance may be altered if brakes are not adequate.  It already takes commercial vehicles twice the distance of cars to stop their trucks, so you can imagine what happens when brakes are not performing at the road conditions are less than satisfactory.
