Over the last 3 months, USA Truck driver Wayne Cragg has been sharing his journey into trucking with us. It all began during his first day of OTR training with USA Truck. Since that time, we've all followed him as he's progressed to a confident first seat solo truck driver. We wish we would have found Wayne when he first started truck driving school, but it didn't take us a long after seeing some of his great photography and Facebook posts to realize he was the perfect person to allow us to share a look behind the scenes in a way we've never done before.
Our goal was to share with those considering a career in truck driving a unique look at what it's really like on a daily/weekly/monthly basis to live life out on the road. We ran this idea by Wayne and the rest is history. This last quarter has been great and as we move into 2013, we wanted to share some of Wayne's top posts with you.
1. Wayne's First Day OTR with USA Truck AND First Backup (with photos)
Well, it was a great day to get started on my first day over the road. Today, I met my USA Truck trainer, Randall, and he is a really nice guy with a lot of knowledge.
We started with a short run to Searcy, Arkansas where we unloaded a few palettes and were soon headed to West Memphis.
The unload took a little longer than we expected, so I was able to get some night time driving in. I can for certain say that it was some white knuckle stuff for my first time out.

The first week of my trucking career is in the books! I can say that it's been a great experience and I can definitely say that I will be working harder the next few weeks so I can get my upgrade to go solo with USA Truck.
I've been driving quite a bit over the last 3 days. In fact, after a few hours of driving tomorrow I will be on my 34 hour reset. As much fun as it's been the last week, I think I'm ready for it. Lots of learning and studying when we stop to rest for the night, so It will be nice to just unwind for a day on the road.

Hi. Great blog. Just read all your posts. Did you keep a blog when you went to school? Can you discuss the financial side of things? How are you paid? Are you spending money in unexpected ways? How are the showers?
Thanks. Nice photos too.
Hey Rambling Jon! Thank you for the kind words about the blog.
