It's been a very nice 2 days and a lot of good driving hours. I am starting to get the hang of backing up in a lot of different situations and this will serve me well when I'm out on my own. I also had the chance to pick up a load and help my Driver Trainer slide the tandems...another very important task when it comes to making sure your weight is distributed the right way. Randall (Driver Trainer) has been great talking me through all this technical stuff which comes with starting a truck driving career. We scaled the load as well. Needless to say, I've learned a lot over the last 2 days!
Today was by far the best day when it comes to the beauty of the United States and why it's so much fun work a truck driving job traveling around. Best of all you get paid to see all of it. We headed East from the Mid-west and put some serious miles between us and the last stop. We are able to see some of the leaves still turning in some places. The leaves that hadn't fallen off were awesome. There were some great colors of burnt orange and yellow. A gorgeous back drop with the mountains and streams. Driving today was worth all the muscle aches in the neck and shoulders! Oh, and of course the butt! That's a lot of sitting. I better get used to that quickly!
I am looking forward to heading to the unload tomorrow as it's in a state that I haven't been to yet. It also promises to be as beautiful as the state we are in right now. So far, so good! It's been a lot of hard work but it's been such a great time. See you all on the other side of Lake Erie!
