Meet PAM Transport Driver Mentor, Peta Donovan

It's the people that make PAM Transport the great company that it is and we are continuing to put some faces with names!  From the team back at our headquarters in Tontitown, Arkansas all the way to each and every driver wherever they may be - they all play a very important role in our company's success.

PAM Transport Driver Mentor Crystal

Let's meet Peta Crystal Donovan.  She’s been a proud PAM Transport driver for almost two and a half years and recently upgraded to a driver mentor.  This means she will essentially act as an over-the-road (OTR) trainer for new drivers just beginning a truck driving job.  She will be responsible for helping new drivers fine tune the skills they learn during CDL training while becoming more comfortable with the way of the road.  Let's get her thoughts on why she wanted to become a driver mentor with PAM.

“The only reason I chose to be a mentor was because I wanted to be a positive influence in the lives of new drivers. I’ve been seeing a lot of negativity out there. You can’t listen to the trucker gossip and new drivers just need to give PAM a chance. I thought if student-drivers could get off my truck with safety in mind and a positive attitude then I’m giving something.

I also wanted to change the view of mentors and what it means to be a truck driver. As drivers we deal with a lot of people from customers to office people and other drivers, but the number one thing everyone needs to remember is respect. I’m not in your shoes and you’re not in mine. Students need to feel like they are professional drivers right out of the gate. A mentor’s job is to make sure a new driver practices what they learned in class, this is now hands on, you are now in the real world, and you must put into action what you’ve been taught. There are going to be personality differences, but mentors need to spot that and deal with it. But at the end of the day, we always have a family here. That’s the only way that PAM is going to win.”
