Well, it was a great day to get started on my first day over the road. Today, I met my USA Truck trainer, Randall, and he is a really nice guy with a lot of knowledge.
We started with a short run to Searcy, Arkansas where we unloaded a few palettes and were soon headed to West Memphis.
The unload took a little longer than we expected, so I was able to get some night time driving in. I can for certain say that it was some white knuckle stuff for my first time out. I did pretty good getting us to our terminal here in West Memphis. There wasn't much of a chance to take any scenic pictures as we were on a tight schedule, but I was able to take a few pics of my first back up! Not the most interesting picture to look at mind you, yet oh so important for the first time OTR driver. Note: I could have gone just a little further right to be perfect, but they were able to unload no problem.
I would like to say I stuck it in the hole (or box) in one perfect back up... But that would be lying. LOL It took me a couple of pull ups to get it right. Practice makes perfect though and Randall was excellent! For the first time OTR we also went over pre-trip and post-trip inspections and how important they are, along with all the other important safety issues. Good day all around.
See you all near Chicago the next few days!
