Driver Agent Blog Series - Interview With Derek - Part 2

Today we are sharing part 2 of our Driver Solutions Driver Agent blog series.  Check yesterday's post for part 1 and stay tuned for part 3 tomorrow.

Q: Why do you think people go with Driver Solutions vs. other companies?

A: We offer a low upfront cost to getting started.  We also do not do any credit checks.  This gives people an option to start a new career without having to finance their CDL training.  A lot of companies claim to offer something like our program, but you still have to cover the upfront tuition and they pay you back over time.   We do things a little different.  The trucking company covers your upfront training entirely in exchange for a year commitment to driver with their company.

Q: What are some things you would like people to know before they apply?

A: Most entry level trucking positions are going to be over the road (OTR).  This means drivers need to be ready to be away from home for 2-3 weeks at a time.  It's going to be OTR positions for the majority of entry level drivers no matter where they go.  New drivers have to put in your time first and get some experience then you can go for regional or local driving jobs.

Also, it's important that they understand they are not getting receiving money from the company while they are in school.  Company sponsored CDL training means the company is paying for their training so they can get their CDL license, not that they are actually getting paid by the company.

Stay tuned for the 3rd part of our interview tomorrow.
