Question
Tammy Barger from Driver Solutions Facebook page asks:  Is there anything that you would change about your choice in getting your CDL?

Answer

Hi Tammy,

Thank you for the question! There isn't a whole lot I would change. I started out on a great note when I chose C1 Truck Driver Training and Driver Solutions to help me get my CDL and it all got better after that.  I will say (as many have said before), the first year is going to be tough and while I haven't made it to a year yet (almost half way there!) I'm finding this to be true. There's just so much to learn every single day...but you do learn quickly as time goes by.  I will say this - if you keep a positive attitude and truly enjoy the fact that you're getting paid (it might not be alot at first...but the really good money will come!) to drive around the country,  then I think everything falls into place after that.

When I'm cruising down I-10 going East toward Baton Rouge, just outside of Texas, getting into the swamps on a nice smooth road with very little traffic and just a little fog rolling in - I can tell you, I love what I do!  BUT, when you're in Houston during construction and there's traffic wall to wall leaving your truck with only inches to navigate between 2 concrete dividers then you finally make it safely to your final load destination only to find out you need to go into major traffic to back up the trailer with an employee from the company holding off traffic for you.. Well, then it's a little stressful! But what job isn't stressful at times, right? The great thing about a truck driving jobs is that it has a way higher perectage of great times vs. the stressful times. To me, it's the best choice I could have made.
