Jenn Marie from Driver Solutions Facebook page asks: Any advice for the air brakes test? That is what I am having the most trouble with the Pre Test (pre-trip inspection)
Thank you for your question. You know, I was struggling with the air brakes part of the pre-trip test as well. I was getting things mixed up and out of order. I had the best advice from one of the instructors at trucking school (Dan) who told me to do the pre-trip inspection the same way, every single time. No exceptions. So when it comes time to do the air brakes test, you should have it memorized. I remember going from the top to bottom on that test. Trying to remember the P.S.I. poundage, from the top to bottom as well. It took a lot of practice on my part. By the 3rd week, I was tired of going over it all the time... but it sure did pay off when I had to take the test! I went from left to right, top to bottom. Outside the truck and also inside. I believe if you get the air brake test wrong it's an automatic failure in Missouri which is where I took it. So I hope this helps.
