The DOT Physical is one of the most important qualifications for truck drivers, mainly for the safety of the driver and other drivers sharing the road. And the DOT physical is a Federal law that requires CDL holders to receive periodic physical examinations called DOT medical exams. This is to ensure the ability of the driver to safely operate a commercial vehicle. Once you successfully pass the physical, you'll receive a medical examiner's certificate (DOT medical card) which is the proof you need to obtain a CDL.
